Different page layouts using Theme options

21 Apr 2010

Still messing around with gpt (beta) theme, i created a different 'look' for the blog section, using the 'color scheme' options available in the Theme Manager menu. Instead of adding the same style and just changing the colors you can create different layouts within the same theme and change the folder name to something that will identify the page you will be using it with, instead of the color name.

In my case i called it 'blog' and the default layout - 'default', for the other pages.

Theme Manager

Now in the File Manager menu, you just select the drop down list of the page (in my case 'News') you want to set a different theme on and Select Theme. In the pop-up menu select the sub-layout (color-scheme), in this case 'blog' and you're done.

Other than just minor changes to the blog theme, i have also included a sidebar menu block in the template.php that is hidden if you're browsing pages with the 'default' layout and is visible on the blog layout, so you can play around with the page menu and practically any other block sections in the theme.

Next in line for the gpt theme is updating the Simple_Blog addon, to the new one that will include comment capabilities.

More updates soon!!

Fbook theme updated

14 Apr 2010 | Comments: 1

The new Fbook 2.0 is a much better successor to it's former version, cleaner code and more functionable, thanks to Stefan.

It has now three color options, blue, green and bordeaux. The logo image is stored in the /images directory of the theme folder, and can be replaced by either replacing the jpg file with your own (note width and extension) or by changing the source in the template.php.

You can still download the previous version here.

Simplicity theme updated

13 Apr 2010

The Simplicity theme, which has been downloaded over 200 times at gpeasy.com, has now been updated to version 1.5.

The updates are just minor changes to the style.css, where some padding was added to the sidebar, font-size decreased, the search gadget re-styled and the template.php calls updated to gpEasy 1.6.

You can still download the previous version here.

A great big THANK YOU goes out to the people who are using it!!

Testing gpt(beta) theme..

10 Apr 2010

Going one step further with gpeasy cms, and it's new and most recent version 1.6.

Some of the exclusive features of this theme is the result of close collaboration with opusonline.at, and recent comunity work at gpEasy.com that led to some updates, increasing the design possibilities.

What's New?

Using some jQuery and css for Search gadget positioning and Blog gadget dropdown effect -

Based on a brainstorm version of  the Fbook theme, that Stefan Benicke modified and refined to a 99% look-alike of the real Facebook layout. Using some jQuery and cleaner code.

-to do list-

Obviously because of copyright issues the Facebook alike theme won't be available for public download, i will however update the older Fbook theme with the optimized look.

This gpt beta theme, is still an ongoing project and still needs some more tweaks until it is good to be uploaded for public use at gpEasy addons.
